Aniline leather is top grain leather that is coloured all the way through with a transparent dye. It is porous and has no surface coating. This type of leather is very sensitive and very hard to clean, which is why preventative care is strongly recommended.
Aniline leather which has not been sufficiently treated is porous. All sorts of dirt and liquid sink into the leather and resist superficial cleaning. Stains that have penetrated the surface are not removable with this cleaner. Other specialist products may be needed. Please ask us for advice before buying if in doubt!
Incorrect cleaning attempts may worsen the damage! Aniline leather sufficiently treated with COLOURLOCK Aniline Cream possesses a superficial protection. Soiling does not sink into the surface and can therefore be removed easier with the COLOURLOCK Aniline Cleaner.
The COLOURLOCK Aniline Cleaner comes in a foam dispenser bottle. This allows cleaning the leather, if possible, without using water, which is the gentlest way for this type of leather.
Always test any products first in a hidden area for changes or color correctness! Apply some foam on a soft, lint-free cloth and clean from seam to seam in a circular motion. Never apply directly to the leather! Soak up wetness and dirt immediately with a soft cloth. Dry dark spots caused by drawn-in liquid with a hair dryer (not too hot!). Avoid rubbing too strongly. Test in a hidden area first! Drawn-in stains cannot be removed with the Aniline Cleaner (see pictures). Please ask us first for advice in these cases.
